The du'a of Zakariya (do not leave me alone)
These are the words the Prophet Zakariya called out to Allah when he was old and childless, longing for an heir to carry the faith after him. Allah answered by granting him his son Yahya. It is a beautiful, humble du'a for anyone hoping for a child, and it comes from the Qur'an, surah al-Anbiya (21:89).
رَبِّ لَا تَذَرْنِي فَرْدًا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الْوَارِثِينَ
Rabbi la tadharni fardan wa anta khayrul-waarithin
My Lord, do not leave me alone, and You are the best of inheritors.
