1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information to provide and improve Nida:

Account Information: Email address for account creation and authentication
User Content: Du'as you create, save, and organize within the app, including the situations you describe and any private journal notes you add
Approximate Location: If you choose to enable it, your approximate location is used only to calculate your local prayer times so reminders fire at blessed moments (after each prayer, the last third of the night, and the hour before Friday Maghrib). Your coordinates are tied to your own account, used solely for this purpose, and are never used for tracking or advertising, nor sold or shared with third parties. You can decline and still use the app.
Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for troubleshooting

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide, maintain, and improve Nida's services
To generate personalized du'as based on your input
To send you reminders you've configured
To communicate important updates about the service
To diagnose technical issues and improve app performance

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Nida:

OpenAI (AI Provider): When you generate a du'a, the text describing your situation is sent to OpenAI as our processor to produce the response. We send only the text needed to generate your du'a. OpenAI does not use this data to train its models on our behalf.
Supabase (Cloud Infrastructure): For secure data storage and authentication. Your account and du'as are stored on Supabase's secure cloud infrastructure, which may store and process data in countries other than your own.
RevenueCat (Subscription Management): Processes and validates your Nida+ subscription status. It receives a pseudonymous app user ID and your subscription entitlement — never your payment card details.
Apple App Store: For app distribution. Subscription payments are charged to your Apple account; we never see your card details.

We only share the minimum data necessary for these services to function.

4. Data Storage and Security

All data is encrypted in transit and at rest
We use industry-standard security measures
Your spiritual data remains completely private
We never read or analyze your personal du'as for purposes other than providing the service
Access to user data is strictly limited to essential personnel

5. International Data Transfers

Your data is stored on Supabase's secure cloud infrastructure and may be processed in countries other than your country of residence. By using Nida, you consent to the transfer of your information to those countries, which may have different data protection laws than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data.

6. What We Never Do

Sell your personal information to third parties
Share your du'as with anyone outside of service provision
Use your spiritual data for advertising or marketing
Track you across other apps or websites
Use your data for targeted advertising

7. Tracking and Advertising

Nida does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. We do not use advertising identifiers or participate in ad networks. We do not share your data with data brokers. Your spiritual journey is private and will remain that way.

8. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

Access: Request a copy of your stored data
Correction: Update or correct your information
Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data at any time, directly in the app (Profile → Delete account)
Portability: Request your data in a portable format
Opt-out: Opt-out of non-essential communications

9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

Right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used
Right to delete your personal information
Right to opt-out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell your data)
Right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

10. Children's Privacy

Nida is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe we may have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at contact@nidaapp.com.

11. Data Retention

We retain your data as long as your account is active
When you delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete my account), your account and all associated du'as, folders and istighfar history are deleted immediately and permanently
Residual copies in encrypted backups are purged within 30 days according to our backup retention schedule
Some anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for analytics purposes

12. Changes to This Policy

We will notify you of any material changes via email or in-app notification
The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent revision
Continued use of Nida after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy

13. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Canada, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
